Swim and run at Box End and then the mouse hunt!
An open water session at Box End this morning. Went with Zoe this morning to car share and to go for a run afterwards. In the water before 8am and not the first. The first lap was going well, focusing on my stroke reaching and gliding was the plan. I had to stop half way round the first lap to clear my goggles - some session goggles fit well no problem other sessions it takes a couple of goes to get a good seal, all very frustrating. I completed 3 laps of continuous swimming, I seemed to be going past some swimmers - not normal! I swam for 56'57" so a good session but a bit slower than Tuesday.
I went for a run with Zoe from Box End - I knew it would be at a faster pace than normal but ready to have good run and to go a bit faster as I do need to get some speed back. The run out to Bedford came quickly, the bridge into town only took 25 minutes, faster than usual so kept running on the other bank for a while. The run back passed quickly, missed the turning across the field so ran to the church past the crowds at the end. I know it had been a faster run, not one I found easy to have a conversation all the way round. The run took 1hour 1'58" covering 7.56 miles at 8'12" per mile. I expected my HR to be high but it gave a higher reading that I expected with lots of spikes, not sure how much to believe the data with the majority of the run in Z5.
I had a text from Cath when I got back into the car - Flic had brought a live mouse into the house, but the mouse escaped and was not hidden under the book case - when I got home 2 hours after the text, the mouse was still there with Flic standing guard. I spent the next 10 minutes chasing the mouse, trying to catch it t put it out, in the end it ran out through the conservatory doors on its own to be chased across the garden by Flic - it might have lived for another day.
