A mixed Bank Holiday - and the grass is now shorter!

I keep having to decide what training I want to do as I have no firm plans, so I decided to go for a swim Sunday morning before joining the club Sunday run.  Off to Esporta, all quiet at 7.15am, my own lane, in fact for most of the time I had the pool to myself.  I swan a mixed session for 48' 13" of 84 lengths, 1640m, including 200m warm up and coll down, with a 40, 80, 120, 120, 80, 40 pyramid followed by 4x100m and a 400m set.  All enjoyable, not to much emphasis on speed, spent some time thinking about stroke but mainly relaxing swimming.  Not much time to get sorted and get to the Sunday run, local this week from Grange Park lead by Rob, sure to have some mud and many obstacles.  The weather was kind, warm but windy.  We headed off towards Courteenhall - I had never run that way before always thinking it was a private road - then across many fields by circuitous paths.  We ran for 9.88 miles in 1 hour 54'54" - a slow chatty Sunday run, very pleasant. The afternoon plan was then to cut the grass in the back garden - it hasn't been cut for 6 weeks and is now very long, unfortunately the weather decided it was playing those games and it started raining, lots of it!
My plan for Monday was to do a bike-run brick session and to test out my WRR tri-suit that I hadn't used since the Vitruvian last year.  I went out on the tri-bike, the weather was warm and sunny with a sharp wind planned to do the Salsey, Hanslope, Ashton, Stoke Bruene circuit, just over 20 miles, only 2 hills otherwise rolling and mostly good roads.  I flew out to Hanslope with the wind behind me, but as I turned and started heading towards Ashton the wind became more of a problem and by the time I was heading back from Stoke Bruene I was riding into a strong headwind. The ride was 20.21 miles at an average speed of 18.8mph in 1hour 4'25" a couple of minutes faster than last week.  Then a quick change of shoes to do a short run.  I headed out to Pineham, legs felt good to start with and I moved well, the off road section coming back was a mistake as my legs complained.  I ran for 23'08" covering 2.83miles at an 8'11" per mile pace - I will be looking for something quicker at Bala.
The weather held good for the afternoon.  The grass was still wet as it was so long but I have now managed to give it a 'long' cut and will have to cut it shorter next week, weather permitting.  Mind you it does look a mess as it still hasn't recovered from the hot weather earlier in the summer as I still have large brown patches - some grass seed needed but that will have to wait until some rain is forecast!
