A tired start to the week
I enjoyed the Charnwood race but I did feel tired afterwards and certainly did when I got up to go for a swim on Monday morning. The session started slowly with the arms feeling tired - from the run? The session was a drills based session working on my stroke and kicking. The stroke work went well, the kicking was its normal disaster; there must be a knack to moving with kicking other than putting on the fins, but so far I have not found it! I swam 1,740m in 56'36".
The Pilate's class didn't have many people in so space to spread out. I was expecting the same session as last week but again some differences, but still enjoyable. I was complemented on some of the exercises I did with good abs and leg strength, not sure if it went well by accident or design. I am enjoying the classes, so far.
Tuesday started with a lie-in, still feeling tired so I decided to do the turbo and run after work. This was the first of the brick sessions I have done in my training; I can now see they are the norm, starting of with easy runs, but I am sure more challenges will come.
The turbo session was 85minutes. A different endurance session this week, with longer drills based on 6.5 minutes rather then the 4 I have become used to. I did find it harder to maintain the higher HR zones and again failed to reach one of the high zone 4 efforts, this time the bike wasn't willing. The bike was followed by a run. It took a few minutes to get changed, not the urgency of a race transition. The legs were quickly into running mode with 10 minutes building up to some faster paced running for the next 10 minutes and then 5 minutes cool down.
The evening finished with a session with Zoe working on my neck and shoulders - it hurt but my scapula was moving a bit more by the time she had finished to move on to my legs and getting the hamstring tendon and pelvis to move. Still more work to do!
