A lunchtime swim!

Decided to have a lie in this morning, didn't get up until 7.15am, a luxury. Planned to get into work early so I could have a long lunch and swim. Slightly delayed getting out - I couldn't get the cat in and I was reluctant to leave her out but in the end had to leave. It was her first time out all day, she is only 10 months old.
I haven't been for a swim at lunchtime for a while and I wasn't sure how full the pool would be. The inside pool had multiple swimmers in each lane as well as some walkers but I was pleasantly surprised to see no one outside, it was cold but sunny with light winds so very pleasant.
The target today was a 1,500m time trial preceded by 9 warm and build sets of 80m each, so I had swum 720m before I started. The 1500m itself takes some counting but I have got better most ably assisted by my swim watch that tells me distance/lengths, with the only problem that I have to stop to look at it as the numbers are fairly small and I need to focus! I was pleased that when my counting reached 1,000m my watch agreed. The total time for the 1,500m was 40min 13secs. The total swim today was 2,320m in a session time of 1.07.44 including rests. I will still need to swim faster in the ironman to achieve my target time but I feel the stroke is getting better and without lengths and a wet suit on it is more achievable as well as being able to do the bike ride afterwards.
